This blogger must start today by apologizing for misspelling Barack Obama's name repeatedly in past posts, it's like he's a serious political candidate and his name should be spelled correctly or something...
Anyways, so yesterday here in the big DC, NBC News Chuck Todd moderated a panel on the current Presidential race. The panel was conducted from 12-2 at the Columbus Room at Union Station. Some of the sponsors were Boeing and MSNBC. The panel (National Journal's James Barnes, CongressDaily's David Morris, Democratic strategist Tad Devine and Republican strategist Scott Reed...) basically felt that it was a toss up between Hillary and Obama (if this blogger were not sick she would elaborate more). It was clear that they thought Hillary had the better chance in the end. Although Barack may come out ahead through a couple of the remaining primary states. Most importantly, they thought that Barack would draw the black vote which is traditionally Dem away from Hillary.
Bill Richardson who as some of you know withdrew from the race was noted as the best VP candidate for Hillary since the chance of Barack and her getting together was seen as slim if Barack is not the nominee.
So! Enough about those Democrats, phooey! The panel predicted that the race at this time is between Huckabee and McCain. They regularly made fun of Romney which was depressing and the amount of money he has spent to not win Iowa or New Hampshire. That was depressing because Romney is so perfect in his responses. He really sounds like a conservative, but rumors about him making up stories of his father's march with Martin Luther King Jr. among others only add to the speculation. The speculation that he is someone who sounds great because he is just saying what people want to hear and that in the end Republicans are better off with a person like McCain or Huckabee who although they are far from perfect at least tells the voters what they really intend to do....but what politician does??
The panel was very positive about McCain getting the nomination he lost 8 yrs ago. And discussed a Giuliani Huckabee alliance because Huckabee could use Giuliani to knock off McCain....Huckabee is really just a good VP candidate they said, that has been said here too by this blogger.
Oh and the so sad joke about Thompson was made that nothing could get him going but a 'forklift'. Boo. So that is that for the week. Keep your hats on for Florida!
