The Shakedown.

It appears that Ron Paul is going and still going strong with rumors that his campaign will go independent as the Republican party gathers around McCain.

The President will do some appearances to support McCain although they will not be too cozy according to the New York Times.

WASHINGTON — Senator John McCain’s campaign advisers will ask the White House to deploy President Bush for major Republican fund-raising, but they do not want the president to appear too often at his side, top aides to Mr. McCain said Sunday.

After a weekend of strategy meetings at Mr. McCain’s Arizona ranch — in a sense, the first Sedona summit of the Republican Party’s new leadership — the advisers said that much remains undecided about coordinating the campaign with the White House and the party apparatus until Mr. McCain wins enough delegates to be the official nominee.

The more interesting bit of information is that George H.W. Bush is now supporting McCain and asking for others to be less critical. Hmm, H.W. did not have the best reputation with conservatives after his presidency....so this could hurt McCain.

Then again, McCain has done pretty well in spite of all the odds so maybe not.

And here is a yummy press releases from Ron Paul.

ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA – Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul’s campaign has collected the signatures necessary to appear on the April 22 Pennsylvania Republican primary ballot.

“I am extremely pleased to announce that Ron Paul will be on the Commonwealth's April 22nd GOP primary election ballot,” said Ron Paul 2008 national field director Debbie Hopper. “Just 2,000 valid nomination signatures were required to secure a ballot position, but well-organized petition teams and extraordinary determination by scores of petition circulators resulted in a total of almost 10,000 signatures to get Congressman Paul on the ballot.”

Congressman Ron Paul is one of three Republicans still in the race for the Republican nomination for President.

Ron Paul was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Gettysburg College in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
